Professor Steinberg was among the inaugural class of recipients of the Combustion Institute’s Research Excellence Award.
Professor Steinberg has been named an Associate Editor of Combustion and Flame, starting January 2020.
Congratulations to Penelope Kwong for her JPP paper on interacting swirl flames!
Belated congratulations to Sam Grauer on publishing an excellent Experiments in Fluids paper on Background Oriented Schlieren Tomography.
The Lasers and Fluids Group has four papers accepted to the 38th International Symposium on Combustion in Adelaide. Two of these are led by current students Askar Kazbekov and Mitchell Passarelli. Congratulations!
Congratulations to Askar Kazbekov for publishing his first Journal of Fluid Mechanics Paper!
The Lasers and Fluids Group presented four papers at AIAA SciTech in San Diego. One from Tim described the effects of turbulent mixing on thermo-chemical states. Keishi presented both his paper of physically-constrained velocimetry algorithms and Penelope’s paper on combustor stability. Dr. Chris Arndt from DLR presented on the stability of an enthanol fueled swirl flame that we studied last summer.
Congratulations to Penelope for the successful defense of her Doctoral Thesis entitled “Effect of Nozzle-Nozzle Interaction on Lean Flame Transitions in a Multi-Swirler Combustor”!
